### [Rapid Reaction Scan: How the industry is reacting in public, in the first 72 hours](https://www.twenty-twointelligence.com/tag/rapid-reaction-scans/)

*LinkedIn · October 26–29, 2026 · Evidence: structured sample of public posts, not a survey*

---

The volume was high and positive, but nearly half of it came from people inside the founding companies. Outside that circle the reaction was more measured, and the posts with real substance were close to neutral.

## What the scan is showing

**The conversation is still open.** The enthusiasm is concentrated inside the founding companies (AGNT, Keller Williams, HomeServices of America and Real/RE/MAX), the voices with real standing are split, and the comment threads started out skeptical. Positions are still forming, which means they can still be shaped.

Three questions will decide how this lands:

- **Does the MLS still own listing submission?** If listings can enter through Open Real Estate, MLSs make their case on rules, data quality and service, starting with the question the comments kept asking: who validates the data and stands behind it?
- **Will independent brokers buy in?** They're the most skeptical group, asking whether another network fixes fragmentation or just moves control.
- **Will the rules hold up to antitrust scrutiny?** Critics say national rules set by the largest firms invite challenge; supporters say open membership answers it.

Underneath all three is how the Participant view will be governed: listings members can see but the public can't. That's where to focus, not the open-versus-private debate most posts are having. It's also exactly the territory the [Listing Exposure Spectrum](https://www.twenty-twointelligence.com/listing-exposure-spectrum/) maps.

## The scoreboard

Every Rapid Reaction Scan adds a row, so reaction to different events can be compared over time. Net sentiment is the share of positive posts minus the share of skeptical ones, on a −100 to +100 scale.

| Read | Posts scored | All posts | Outside the founding companies | Posts with real substance |
| --------- | ------------ | --------- | ------------------------------ | ------------------------- |
| 24+ hours | 115 | +57 | +28 | 0 |
| 48+ hours | 157 | +55 | +26 | +11 |
| 72+ hours | 180 | +51 | +22 | +5 |

78 of 180 posts came from the founding companies' own people, running net +90 on largely shared talking points. The 22 posts with real substance net +5, and the typical one draws three times the reactions of a typical echo post. The scan closed at the 72+ checkpoint.

## What the comments say

The posts are where people announce a position; the comments are where they test it. Across the default comments on the 10 most-discussed posts, sentiment ran net −10 while the posts themselves ran +58\. The strongest thread asked who validates the data if a listing is distributed before the local MLS sees it. A re-read at 72+ hours added eight comments that leaned positive, moving the comment net to +5 on 39 comments, a small sample.

## Threads worth following

- **The Participant view is where the substance is.** Open Real Estate doesn't eliminate private listings; it pools them among members under shared rules.
- **The MLS question reached MLS boards within a day.** If submission, normalization and distribution live in Open Real Estate, is local rulemaking enough of a business?
- **Independent brokers are the most skeptical group**, though not uniformly.
- **Antitrust and the Upstream comparison came up early.**
- **The Compass side isn't speaking with one voice.**
- **The coalition is widening at the edges**, with Lamacchia, Iron Valley and Brown Harris Stevens among early signers.

## What it means for leaders

**MLS, association and brokerage leaders.** Lead the explanation of Public versus Participant view, and be the answer to "who validates the data?" Read past the volume: nearly half the posts came from the founding companies. And know where your independents stand; a short member pulse turns anecdotes into a number.

**PropTech providers.** The near-term opening is the build, with vendor selection planned for early 2027\. MLS system vendors should plan for a possible second front door, and any tool touching listing input or marketing needs a plan for listings that are member-visible but public-hidden.

## How this scan works

Rapid Reaction Scans sample public LinkedIn posts about an event in its first 24 to 72 hours. Each post is scored for sentiment, grouped by who's posting, and classified as an indicator (real substance), a watch item (credible, not yet confirmed) or noise (echo and promotion). Results are cross-checked against an independent capture. AI does the heavy lifting on collection and first-pass sorting; the framework, the calls on signal versus noise and the interpretation are ours. It shows early reaction, not representative opinion.
